    Gregory Bardwell

    Gregory Bardwell is an American flutist currently studying flute at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, Denmark. At the Academy he studies flute Ulla Millmann, principal flutist of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and piccolo with Marie Holzegel, piccolo in the Royal Danish Opera. Prior to this, he studied with Nicole Esposito at the University of Iowa.

Gregory Bardwell is an American flutist currently studying flute at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, Denmark. At the Academy he studies flute Ulla Millmann, principal flutist of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and piccolo with Marie Holzegel, piccolo in the Royal Danish Opera. Prior to this, he studied with Nicole Esposito at the University of Iowa.

As a dedicated orchestral musician, Gregory has performed with the Quad-Cities Symphony Orchestra and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, in addition to an assortment of other groups. Moreover, he held a variety of different positions at summer orchestra festivals such as the National Symphony Orchestra and Aruba Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, he was a member in various chamber groups that were a part of many tours and concerts sponsored by the University of Iowa and other organizations.These opportunities gave him the opportunity to learn from chamber ensembles such as JACK Quartet, Brentano Quartet, and Cavani String Quartet, among others.

Gregory has attended summer flute courses like the Iowa Flute Intensive and the International Piccolo Festival. While there he had the opportunity to study with such eminent flutists like: Julien Beaudiment, Michel Bellavance, Marianne Gedigian, Niccola Mazzanti, Jocelyn Fillion-Kelch, Kaori Fujii, and Angela Jones-Reus. 

Gregory has been a winner and prize winner in many flute competitions across the US. Most notably, he won first prize at the National Flute Association’s Young Artist Competition at the 50th Anniversary convention in Chicago, Illinois. He also received first prize in the Upper Midwest Flute Association Young Artist Competition, the CedarLuke Young Artist Competition, the Kentucky Young Artist Competition and Chamber Music Competition, and the Arizona Flute Society Collegiate Competition. He was also a prize winner of the South Carolina Flute Society Collegiate Competition and a Semi-Finalist of the RAFA Young Artist Competition. 

Gregory is a Miyazawa Emerging Artist, performing on a Miyazawa 50th Anniversary Model with a 14k Gold Headjoint.
