Dávid Kanyó performs with the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra and is a founding member of Dohnányi Wind Quintet, Sounds of Babel, and A’la cARTe ensemble.

Dávid Kanyó has performed as a flutist and piccoloist with the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra since 2003: one of the most popular professional orchestras in Hungary. He took part in the orchestra’s collaboration with Sting, Andrea Boccelli, José Carreras, Quincy Jones, Richard Bona, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Schlomo Mintz, Andreas Scholl, Elena Stikhina , Zoltán Kocsis, and others. Dávid is a founding member of several chamber formations, such as Dohnányi Wind Quintet, Sounds of Babel, A’la cARTe ensemble, and his is a standing guest artist of the Budapest Chamber Symphony.
Dávid Kanyó graduated the Faculty of Musical Art at the University of Debrecen, Hungary. His masters were Zoltán Gyöngyössy and István Matuz, pioneers of contemporary and multiphonic technique and interpretation. Following his teachers, Dávid has researched modern experimental music and, at the same time, he has become the performer of a wide-range repertoire including baroque, classical and romantic peaces, and extended his field of interest to contemporary jazz and world music.
During the early years of his carreer, he participated in and won numerous national and international competitions, later focusing on performing in an orchestra and as a soloist. He has appeared as a soloist and participated in several chamber music productions and festivals in many European countries like Austria, Slovakia, Germany, Italy, France, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Croatia, Slovenia and Spain, and also at Carnegie Hall. He has contributed in numerous productions of the Budapest Saxophone Quartet.
As a conductor, Dávid won first place in 2 international conducting competitions (Balatonföldvár HUN 2012, Szeged HUN 2016). He has conducted several orchestras and casual ensembles over the past 15 years.
