Christian Artmann
Our Featured Artist for the month is Christian Artmann.
Christian Artmann, a New York based jazz flute player and composer, is passionate about bridging musical boundaries and showcasing the flute in jazz. His musical associations include bassist Johannes Weidenmueller, drummer Jeff Hirshfield, jazz pianists/composers Laszlo Gardony, Gregg Kallor, Rubens Salles and Philippine Duchateau, mezzo soprano Elena McEntire, percussionist Luiz Claudio, the Aspen Festival Orchestra and the Princeton Pro Musica. He has performed at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Django Reinhardt Jazz Festival near Paris, the Smetana Hall in Prague as well as clubs in New York, Boston and Vienna.
Christian recently released his new CD 'Uneasy Dreams' to critical acclaim. 'Uneasy Dreams' has been called "mesmerizing" (The Birmingham Times) and has been applauded for its "beguiling sound" (AllAboutJazz) and the band's "ability to play freely, without barriers" (SaxShed).

'Gossip Cats are Dancing' features music by all living composers including Robert Dick, Chia-Ying Chiang & Mike Sempert. Flutists on the album include Areon Flutes (Jill Heinke, Kassey Plaha & Amelia Vitarelli), Tamara Maddaford and Robert Dick with a special appearance from the F-bass flute as well!
